Bershka

The start of my retail career in Dubai

I took on the role of brand manager for Zara’s little sister Bershka when I moved to Dubai.
In my younger years in Montreal, I was lucky to join the team that would open the first flagship of Zara in Canada on St. Catherine street. I learnt the Inditex way early on in my career. For anyone that has been through this journey in retail, you will know that in the fast moving digital transformation of our industry, this brand was already thinking ahead in the late 90s.

I took on the role of brand manager for Zara’s little sister Bershka when I moved to Dubai. Zara and Bershka were great brands to learn the effective planning of supply chain, where I was from the start responsible for the stocks, turnover of stocks, and sell throughs of the stores; empowerment done right!

Managers would fly to Barcelona to give their opinions on designs to come, to feedback on special exclusives needed in their special regions, and to live the fast pace rhythm expected and design for the Highstreet retail world. This formula structured my base experience and its very data driven decision making was an ultimate base for propelling me to be a leader in retail in the years to come.
